How did you first get involved with Laudate Fitness?

M: In June, I became involved with Laudate Fitness through Coach Natalie and Coach Samuel. The discussion of the gym started because of our shared love of fitness. Upon learning about the incorporated faith aspect in the workout programming, I expressed that I did not grow up in the church but wanted to learn more about my beliefs and faith. They assured me that although I do not have an in-depth background in the Christian faith, Laudate Fitness could be a good place to explore my views and learn from others while working on my fitness goals. Laudate Fitness has since exceeded my expectations. It has continuously provided me with an inclusive and accepting community to begin my journey while giving me the opportunity to make new friends along the way.

What is your current involvement with Laudate?

M: While living in Pittsburgh, I was able to go to Laudate Fitness for a few weeks before moving back home to Delaware in July. While I currently cannot be at the gym in person, I have the luxury of being involved in the Laudate community by joining the weekly virtual Bible study to continue learning and expanding my views.

What do you like about Laudate's program?

M: I like that Laudate programming challenges me spiritually, intellectually, and physically. This triad is something I have never experienced before and have grown to enjoy.

What can you tell me about Laudate's atmosphere?

M: Laudate is an all-encompassing environment welcoming all individuals, regardless of their level of involvement in the church or fitness. The uplifting atmosphere has given me the strength to continue pushing myself through workouts, to be vulnerable during prayer, and to have the courage to ask questions during discussions.

What is your faith and fitness background?

M: Up to this point in my life, I have always considered myself a non-practicing Catholic. Even though I was baptized as a child and grew up celebrating the Christian holidays, I never went to church with my family. Therefore, I was not provided an in-depth education about the Catholic faith or values. My lack of education and involvement in the discussion of religion has always made me feel unsure of what my beliefs are or how to interpret the deeper meaning of readings from the Bible. On the contrary, fitness was an immense part of my childhood and upbringing. Since Laudate Fitness has interwoven programming incorporating faith and fitness, it has been a beautiful starting place for me to learn and grow.

Do you have any current faith and fitness goals?

M: My current faith goal is to continue to allow myself to be vulnerable and gain comfort in learning about the Christian faith and my beliefs. I want to continue to ask questions and challenge myself from an intellectual and spiritual standpoint. Similarly, I want to stay consistent in my workouts and nutrition to grow to be the best version of myself.

Join the Laudate community every Thursday evening and Saturday morning to start your story of faith and fitness!
